What to expect…

Holy Cross is eager to invite you into a worship experience with open arms, hearts, and minds. While attending any service, no bulletin is necessary (though it is available for each service outside the Sanctuary facing the front door). Use the overhead screens, which may include video clips and pictures as each service calls for, to guide you along. Each worship service is about 50-60 minutes in length.

Join us…Holy Cross offers variety:

Saturday Celebration (at 6:00 pm):

A contemporary worship experience.  Music is led by a group called Day 6, which is a band comprised of a keyboard, drums, guitarists, and vocalists. You might know many of the music selections from hearing them on a contemporary Christian radio station. Most of the elements of the Saturday Celebration are written by our very own pastor and staff, including the “Call to Worship,” “Gather Prayer,” “Confession & Proclamation of Forgiveness,” and “Affirmation of Faith.” The overhead screens display statements of faith and sing-along lyrics to follow throughout the worship service.

Because of the surrounding community’s ever-growing presence, this worship service almost always includes a baptism!

The Sacrament of Holy Communion is offered on the first and third Saturdays of each month; and it is considered an “open invitation” to all people, regardless of religious background or preferences. It typically includes homemade dairy-free bread (by one of our very own members) and a choice of red wine or grape juice served “at the table”—worshipers are invited to kneel at the communion rail, where they are served. Those who are not yet old enough to receive communion (1st-grade and younger) are invited to receive a blessing “at the table.”

Classic Gathering (Sundays at 8:00 am):

A traditional worship experience.  The Classic Gathering Worship Service follows the traditional Lutheran liturgy found in the Evangelical Lutheran Book of Worship (ELW). Though liturgies, including the “Confession and Forgiveness,” “Affirmation of Faith,” and the prayers are taken directly from the ELW, a few of the elements of worship are written weekly by our pastor and staff. Music consists of traditional Lutheran hymns, which is led by the Classic Gathering Musicians. The overhead screens display the corresponding ELW pages and hymn numbers, as well as prayers to be read aloud with fellow worshipers.

Hope & Praise Celebration (Sundays at 9:30 & 11:00 am):

A contemporary worship experience.  Music is led by a group called Hope & Praise, which is a band comprised of a keyboard, drums, guitarists, and vocalists. You may recognize some of the songs from contemporary Christian radio stations, as well as many of the musical selections taken from the group Dakota Road Music, which is a local Midwest group that has written many quality, sing-able tunes for contemporary worship. Most of the elements of the contemporary Sunday Celebration are written by our very own pastor and staff, including the “Call to Worship,” “Gather Prayer,” “Confession & Proclamation of Forgiveness,” and “Affirmation of Faith.” The overhead screens display statements of faith and sing-along lyrics to follow throughout the worship service.
