Leadership

Noel Kahl

I’m Noel Kahl, the Director of Youth Ministry.

God has blessed me with a journey! I grew up on a farm west of Sioux Falls and graduated from Augustana College with a special education and religion double major. I spent a year working at Rainbow Trail Lutheran Camp and have had a wide variety of ministry experiences from Colorado, Iowa, Alaska, all the way to New York City. I am excited God has called me back to my home congregation and have been blessed to serve here since August 2006! I love to read and one of my favorite books lately is Breathing Space by Heidi Neumark.

This is a blessing to be here at Holy Cross as a leader, this is a place I have been nurtured as a youth and now continue to be nurtured in leadership. I have been inspired by youth directors in my life who gave me the spark and nudge to be involved in ministry.  I love meeting new people and continue to enjoy building relationships with the youth and families here at Holy Cross.  Now is an exciting time to walk together and grow in faith.  As we live each day we each have the opportunity to discover how God is working in each of our lives.  A quote I often remember from John Claypool is, “I am called to live in order to know rather than trying to know in order to live.” I have a passion for youth and a passion for ministry, I am excited to share my faith and to hear stories from others as we are all on this journey. I look forward to youth group being a place to connect with one another, a place to grow in faith, and a place to call home.

I have a passion to learn, and I am currently working towards a master of Arts degree in children, youth and family ministry through Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN, with a hopeful graduation date of May 2010.
