Cosmic Detour - Confirmation
Cosmic Detour is the name of our confirmation program. It is an opportunity for youth and their families to explore the mystery of faith and how it impacts their life today. During their 7th and 8th grade years, youth spend one evening a week together. These evenings may consist of a snack, pastor time, small group discussion, worship, or servant and fellowship events. During their 9th grade year, youth choose an adult member of the congregation as a mentor. In the fall of this same year they attend a weekend retreat and are confirmed on Reformation Sunday.
The theme is "Faith Hits the Road." Studies include: The Lord's Prayer, the Ten Commandments, the Apostles' Creed, Holy Communion, Baptism, Bible Overview, the creation story, Abraham and Sarah, Joseph and his brothers, Bondage & deliverance from Egypt, Gospels, Birth of Jesus, Jesus' teaching, healing and storytelling and more!
Confirmation is...
- An intentional time to encounter the gospel of Jesus Christ.
- An opportunity for students and their families to explore the mystery of faith and how it impacts their life today.
- An encounter of faith which is neither begun nor finished in this program. Faith is a gift first encountered at birth, affirmed at baptism and shared with a community of believers
